Love this image! If you photoshopped the car into this background I must say that's outstanding! Also have to say your locations are always fantastic...that has to be a huge part of the task...just finding the right location! Kudos!!
Just spent about an hour reworking and refining the shadow, as well as some other minor details that I think tie the piece together more coherently. Let me know how you feel about the new edit, would you?
hmmm it still needs more effort I think. the side of the car is nearly OK, not sure about the back shadow and front wheel. I used to do a lot of these so i know how hard it is. for me the best way was just to copypaste the whole shadow from another picture even if the overal light direction wasn't the same.
and there's that jaggy white line on the side skirt. this is actually why I quit virtual tuning and started photography. became obsessed with smoothness. now on my photos if I can't make it sterile clean perfect I dont even try.
Well unfortunately, this was lit directly from above with additional lighting around the car, so shadows were virtually nonexistent. Had to paint them in myself- which proved much harder than I thought it would be, as that has been the one detail to be consistently critiqued where I've posted this. But that's the whole point of this 'bored at work' series; no client to impress, just an exercise to gradually become better at masking cars into new backdrops. It's proving harder than I originally thought, but I welcome the challenge. No better way to improve, right?
I re-iterate what I said when I saw this one Facebook a short while ago.. "This is car heaven, right?".. Seriously, what an absolutely epic location and amazing work, with an immense piece of engineering prowess from those zany Germans! After having driven the 'normal' R8 and finding out it's brilliant, surely this one can only be better?
