Proving Ground by notbland Proving Ground by notbland
2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara.
Louisiana. January 8, 2010.

We shot for seven hours in 30 degree weather. Had to break several times to get in the Durango and thaw out my fingers. But seven hours? That's some dedication. ;)

It was SUCH a relief to finally shoot on a different surface than road. I've been waiting years to do an offroad shoot. Now that I have, I quite like the extreme variety that it offers. With a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, you have to scout for locations that don't have potholes or a curb more than three inches tall. With a Jeep, you can shoot ANYWHERE. That's why I love this series so much. Finally; variety.

For those asking- this series is part of a much bigger picture; something that has the potential to skyrocket my career. So while it's no super exotic, it's almost more important than one, from my point of view. I'll shed more light on the matter in coming months, if things evolve the way I hope.

Ahhh, what a fantastic scene.
I'm a hardcore Jeep fanatic and former owner. This is a great shot, really makes me miss my old one. Plan on getting another when I pay off my MINI Cooper...

The composition of this shot is great. Really love the ... well, I suppose you could say it is ';power' that the piece has? The sky is also a great compliment to the Jeep's colour.

Best of luck to you in your future. If this is only a small sample of what you have, you've got a good chance of making it, in my opinion. Keep it up!

I checked it out shortly after looking at this piece -- fantastic! Really love the shots you have of just certain parts of the cars, one of my personal faves was the red and black seats to a mustang you took. You've got a great eye for photography.

Well thanks! And yeah, I never shoot any cars with red interiors, for some reason. Had to do that one justice. :)

Well I have to comment on this one too. Good deal on the off road shooting. You couldnt find a better gig. Im sure the fast cars are sweet but You can do some awesome stuff to off road vehicles that those lambos and stuff are not even going to think about.

Yeah, for sure. Though we'll see what the future holds. May end up sticking to the high end stuff anyway. We'll see.

Well, I guess you can shoot a lambo at the same loacation. The problem's just to find an owner who is willing to crash his 300k$ car ^^

Anyway, great shot!
Really different. Really good.
Impressing angle that makes this offroader appearing montrously!

Concerning this kind of cars: What about a nice Mercedes G Class AMG? ;)

I really like seeing you shoot a Jeep, always was a childhood favourite of mine.
Always good to try something new, it's cool to see you put your style on such a different vehicle. Love the low angle, really gives the Jeep presence over the rocks. Very clean and sharp image, great work as always Webb.

Awesome work, as always. Can't wait to see more. I was inspired by you a few months ago and tried my hand at car photography, but then the weather got too cold and I ran out of friends and relatives with cars worth shooting. :hmm:

Beautiful! Jeep is the American icon!

Nothing feels the same as a Jeep. If my wife wants me to run to the store, taking the Jeep is as much fun as taking a sports car!

Good luck on your path, man. :)

Oh, pop-culture reference, will you ever get old? Yes, about ten seconds before this joke occured.

Anyway, admittedly nice to see this, huge change of pace from the normal stuff. You do any shots in the water?
